I have today been informed by Hasan at the Belediye office in Esentepe that there is a special procedure available with the new pre-paid meters in case of insufficient credit and a fire occurs.
If a fire occurs and you have insufficient credit on your prepaid meter and need water urgently, if you hold down the black button ( the same button as when you load credit onto your meter from your pre-payment card ) for approximately 30 seconds this will send a signal to the meter to allow a one off release of up to five tons of water to assist in dealing with any emergency situation involving a fire.
Hopefully this very useful facility will only be used under " emergency circumstances" and not be abused by anybody seeing it as a way of getting five tons of water free.
